Lenovo has announced the launch of its first 16-inch widescreen laptop, the IdeaPad Y650, in India along with IdeaCentre A600 All-in-one Desktop.
The laptop is claimed to be the thinnest and lightest 16-inch notebook currently available in India. Lenovo also claims that the laptop at 2.55 kg weighs less than most 15-inch laptops and thus offers greater mobility without compromising on screen size. It is also just one-inch thick at its thinnest point.
On the design front, users will like the modernized, soft black design with an interlocked hexagon pattern on the top cover. There is also a discrete copper accent around the perimeter of the laptop. The machine also features touch-sensitive controls and ambient light sensor technology - a sensor on the PC's cover automatically detects changes in lighting to help protect against eyestrain. The keyboard is similar to that of the ThinkPad and has bevel sides.
The notebook is a mean performer and has an integrated Nvidia GT105M with CUDA acceleration graphics processor that supports high-definition graphics. Using top-of-the-line processors from the Intel Centrino 2 platform, the Y650 supports DDR3 RAM as well. It also comes with JBL Speakers along with Dolby Home Theater and a "longer battery life" - thanks to the LED backlight technology, which minimizes energy consumption. The laptop can support a BluRay Reader/Writer and comes with a built-in TV tuner.
The Lenovo IdeaPad Y650 notebook is now available at a MRP of Rs. 103,990 (inclusive of all taxes).
