The music streaming website gets a new look and a native iPhone app

Last.fm, the music streaming site that everybody loves, just got a facelift and a few tucks. Matthew Ogle of Last.fm unveiled the new look and the features that make up the new site assuring that, "[...] we haven't taken much away [noting that some missing pieces will make an appearance in a few weeks], just re-organised." In addition to the design refresh, Last.fm is also branching on to mobile devices, specifically, the iPhone. The website has released a free native app for the iPhone that can stream any of the songs from the Last.fm library of 5+ million titles. The app also reproduces some of the website's key features by recommending songs and giving access to your favourite tracks and artists.

Here are some other changes made to the Last.fm interface:

Library: Last.fm tracks all your footprints on the website and gives you access to your entire music profile, down to every last song you have ever played. Songs can also be added to a library with a click, which can then be accessed from wherever you are.

Import your music history: You can sync your iPod/iPhone or any other media player to fill your Last.fm library with everything you have listened to. This profile is then updated at every future sync.

Tweaked recommendation engine: Music recommendations based on what you listen to will now appear in seconds instead of weeks.
