EA confirmed the rumour that BioWare is developing an MMORPG based on the KOTOR property
EA's John Riccitiello dropped a couple of MMO bombs in a conversation with Portfolio.com: the first one, known and anticipated, is the Warhammer property which they expect to come out "soon". The other however, was rumoured but never confirmed up to this point -- an MMORPG based on the Knights of the Old Republic (KOTOR) property. The KOTOR MMO will be helmed by Bioware, in partnership with LucasArts.
This is such bitter-sweet news to us. While we would love to sink our teeth into a persistent and online world based on Star Wars and sculpted by BioWare, we are equally sad at not being able to experience another single-player title set in the Old Republic... no more HK-47 shenanigans for us meat bags. Unless they are also working on a single-player game along with the MMO. So we hope.
Riccitiello also told Portfolio.com that he was interested in owning World of Warcraft; while the deal was discussed nothing came of it "because [Vivendi] couldn't afford control of EA, and I wasn't giving it up."

Yes, THERE Better be a single player option, or it really won't be a KOTOR game.

They better not make the Star Wars MMO like Phantasy Star Universe, PSU is awful!! After the failure of Star Wars Galaxies and the massive success of WoW, I'm hoping these ppl take what they have learned from both and apply it to an awesome Star Wars game. They should have the gameplay and design closely resemble WoW, Blizzard did it right. If they do this new Star Wars MMO properly, it has the potential to be 10 times more succesful than WoW. Myself and I'm sure many other fans have been waiting on this for a very long time!

the fact that you said they should make a star wars mmo like wow means you have no knowledge of what makes a good mmo let along a good star wars game.

Its doubtful, yet entirely possible for them to do the same sort of thing Phantasy Star Universe did. Completely seperate the single and multiplayer, simply have them operate in the same locations.
