After Gurgaon Police went hi-tech by incorporating the Global Positioning System (GPS) into its functioning, now it's the turn of the Kerala Police, who will be provided with mobile phones.

According to reports, State Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan said that the Kerala police force of about 40,000 will be provided with Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) broadband services and mobile phones.

Under the agreement, police personnel will have to surrender the mobile handsets when they retire. BSNL will offer benefits like free calls and discounted rates to the constables. The monthly rent for all connections in the scheme will be Rs. 100. All calls made within the network will be free of cost.

What's more? For all those Keralites who are tired of the never-ending protocol that is involved in registering a police complaint, here is some good news. It has also been decided that the 436 police stations in the state would get broadband connections, and henceforth, the process of registering complaints at the police stations would be computerized.  We hope that other states too provide such tech facilities to the police force, which would help them to control spiraling crime rates better.

Firstly the police need to improve themselves and stop taking bribes. Which still continue widely especially in my place. Traffic voilation happens, police stops you, to escape just give some money to the police and problems solved. Technology is not going to change the way these people behave and continue working to get money. Majority of them are just doing their job just for the sake of money. I really lost trust in today's police over here.
