It's Vodafone Bringing Apple iPhone to India

It's official now! Apple and Vodafone have penned a deal to sell the Apple iPhone in ten countries around the world including India.

As per latest reports, Vodafone will begin selling the Apple iPhone as early as later this year. Earlier, a leading business daily had quoted unnamed sources at Apple retail saying that the iPhone is expected to launch in India in the first week of September 2008. The report had said that initially only the 8GB version would be launched for somewhere around Rs 28,000 with the 16GB version expected to follow suit later.

Apple has already done a good study of Indain market. Wait and watch the situation. Iam sure, they will sell the product for an amount less than 15K and it further they will be forced to open it for all the operators . Apple does not consider India an important market and does not price its products low to appeal to the budget buyer. Same as with the iphone. But if the iphone does come out at 28k, it will never be a big hit. Iphone is cool but look at the price... i mean if this same thing was from some other maker... the hype wouldnt hv been ds much. Apple sells the drool factor in its products more than anything. And with vodafone bringing it means u cant make the full use of the phone with other networks... and soon when some other nu drool comes up u wont even get a proper resale value...just like high end cdma phones. "iphone 2" will be launched in India with the prices nearly on par with the US prices. 'iPhone2' will be priced at $199 in the US and will be launched on the 11th of July. The price here will be almost similar to the US price. By then you would have a 64 GB model launched in the US with GPS and integrated Office email, etc and we would be paying a premium for the initial 8 GB model. If you tally prices for iPods suffels (1GB ) price in india is RS 2700 and in US $49( RS. 2000).....so I think the prices for iPhone might be greater than the same in US.
