Intense Gaming? Don't sweat

Techtree News Staff, Apr 07, 2008 1715 hrs IST

Logitech has announced a game-controller that helps gamers' hands stay cool for those intense gaming sessions.

Those intense game sessions holding your game-controller will no longer leave you sweating profusely. The days of palm-perspiring sessions at gaming are numbered with Logitech announcing an interesting game-controller to keep your hands cool and dry while you're at it. It's called the Logitech ChillStream controller for PC.

The ChillStream controller is a plug-and-play, full-speed USB device that finds itself compatible with Windows XP computers (with the latest service pack), and with Windows Vista. It features a floating D-pad, which uses 4 points of contact instead of a single pivot point. This design helps avoid side-to-side tipping that is inherent in other controllers.

Wondering how it works? The ChillStream game-controller comes with a built-in fan-based cooling system, designed to cool the gamers' hands and thereby keep them dry while engaged in extreme competition. There's a metal grille that covers the air intake at the base of the controller.

The ChillStream Technology includes a built-in 40 mm fan that circulates up to 3.41 cubic feet of air every minute, while generating very little noise. 3 narrow vents on each side of the controller push air directly onto the four fingers, the base of the thumb and the palm of the hand.

The air stream has 3 settings - continuous, interval, or off. In the interval mode, the air blows for 15 seconds, and then turns off for 30 seconds to resume again. The air vents are recessed from the surface of the controller and rubber linings surrounding the vents are flush with the surface - making the vents barely noticeable to the touch during gaming.

The Logitech ChillStream controller for PC comes with a 2-year warranty and is priced at Rs 2,495.
