Come September, Intel will launch a dual-core version of its Atom chip -- the Atom 330.
Expected to be a 1.6GHz part with a 533MHz bus, and an on-die L2 cache of 1MB (512K per processor) -- the dual-core will be married with an updated D945GCLF2 motherboard, Ars Technica reports. The 330 will offer HyperThreading support on each processor, for a total of four virtual cores. It would be of interest to see whether this beefed up iteration performs better than its current version does -- although, as noted in that news piece, the real bottleneck seems to be the 945G platform, which is still retained through the D945GCLF2 motherboard.
