IBM has unveiled new smart search software called "OmniFind Personal Email Search" (IOPES) that will help find information buried in vast personal email databases.
Powered by advanced algorithms, IOPES is capable of interpreting incomplete queries, and finding information such as phone numbers, people, meetings, presentations, documents, images, and more.
Users would be able to quickly search and find information. For example, a person's phone number -- even if the email database does not have words like 'phone' and 'number' in it.
In addition, IOPES will allow users to create, save, and share personalized searches for future use.
According to IBM, the software eliminates the frustration one feels when irrelevant search results are returned for a simple text or keyword search. Common search concepts, such as dates, time, and phone numbers, are built into the software.
Meanwhile, additional search parameters like meeting requests or specific locations can also be defined and used on the fly without any programming expertise, the company said.
Available only for Lotus Notes, IOPES is developed at IBM's Research Lab. The software uses the Unstructured Information Management Architecture (UIMA), an open source software framework that enables text analysis, extraction, and concept search capabilities.
IOPES, the smart email search software plug-in is available for free on alphaWorks at http://www.alphaworks.ibm.com/tech/emailsearch.
