Going for samsung is better.Because it has high efficiency.Since it is rugged it can withstand wear and tear.It also has horizontal and vertical adjustments.most probably computer monitors(CRT) Won't be flat.If you want flat monitors go for LCDs.

Hello, My elder brother, who stays in Vasai [Mumbai: Thane District], needs a new Laptop. He is not a tech guy and therefore, I need to come up with some good options for Laptop. Here is what I do: Take a representative quote from your favourity local hardware dealer, check the prices on the same item on newegg.com and then determine the markup by comparing the two figures. Now apply the markup to all other items on newegg.com. In my experience, -5% to 30% variability exists but is fairly constant within a particular bracket. (Yes, thats a minus 5 percent)

If U source the prices from distributors like Neoteric, Rashi, Etc Etc, they have a dirty habit of quoting what is the MRP, & Difference between MRP & street price in computer hardware is as much as 40%. !!!, all prices quoted in a table like this should be STREET PRICES, because very strangely, likes of Neoteric, Rashi et.al. have no knowhow to deal with customers thru a web site and thereby they are in computer trade but are ignorant about e- commerce, perhaps somebody like Newegg, or Zipzoomfly is going to do them all in, they would lose all their protected turfs. Newegg does 2 billion dollars worth of e- Commerce yearly !!! only because it,s prices are so competitive and it beats all the company distributors with low rates and prompt honest delivery. All that is required is, for govt of india to permit Indians to buy comp. components from abroad with low duty, and then see all these duopolies crumble. !!!

While the spirit behind this is good, the compilation is shoddy and amateurish. This list is required to be UPDATED by a knowledgeable person, and please give street rates, applicable on cash payment, as also the list must have proper tables, e.g. for motherboatds, give mfr name, chipset, and brief desc. also better to seperate the AMD & INTEL motherboards ( Incidently there are manufacturers other than Asus also in motherboard field.) so too in intel there are chipsets like 915 etc etc.. Please upload a revised list before new season i.e. before 1st Oct, 2005, amd have a pro fo it.

I had enquired for Speakers. A few TV/VCD/Refrigerator shops told me that creative Inspire 5.1 cannot be connected to 29" TV (normal TV in the range 20-30k eg LG,sony..).They told me that edifier e3100 was compatible amongst both TV and computer. Later on i visited Lamington Road, The H/w hub of mumbai,where i was shocked to hear that vendors never knew that Creative Inspire 5.1 came in 5200,5500,5700 models. They were giving creative Inspire 5.1 for 4400 Rs. and they said "it show work with TV too.(ie direct connection to TV)". Plz let me know whether this can be done. I need my speaker compatible with both TV and computer. Is there any center in mumbai where u can hear the speakers in action before purchasing one ?

the prices are more or less indicative in some categories... but maybe off in others simply because these shops often quote a price for the heck of it if you go to only inquire... however when you go to purchase.. they will reduce prices.. especially if you buy more than one item and if you know them

Sincerely I doubt you'll get those prices anywhere in the market, one or two things may be right, but most of the things are a little bit off, sometimes by Rs 1000 to Rs 2000 at the max.

it's gr8 effort but i think info needs to be a little more comprehensive (dealer's info, a picture , platform compatibilty). also more companies should be listed (no ATI in Graphics card section a JOKE !!!!) else everthing is fine.

Isn't XFX PCX same as XFX PCI-express. Then how can the same card for eg. geforce 6600 256mb be priced differently as 8950(pci express) and 11500(PCX)

THe Geforce 6600GT 128mb costs 24k !!!!!!!!!!!!!! This has gotta be a mistake !!!!!!!!! It must be a 6800GT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just phoned BIG and found that its was 11.5k !!!!!!!!!!!!! The full graphic card section of PCX cards is full of wrong prices !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The price Rs 7700 .. as far as i know is for Amd 64 bit 3000+ socket 939 and not for 3200+

The sheer number of printing errors is daunting. Take the PCI-Express cards section (named "XFX") for e.g... 6600GT 128MB and 6800GT 256 MB have the same price? WTF?? And there are many more such errors...

I agree, I think techtree can put a small effort and make these lists more clear to understand. Also I wish they didn't out them up as Images. Makes it hard to copy them onto a text document.
