Look forward to a computing experience in your language
FTK Technologies, an Israel-based company, has tied-up with Hewlett Packard for providing its 'Compaq My Bhasha' software with the Compaq Presario CQ 2000 series line-up. The Compaq My Bhasha software is a vernacular interface for users who are not proficient in English, and users can surf the Internet, chat, and compose e-mails in the language they are most comfortable with.
According to FTK Technologies, collaborating with HP India to provide the Compaq My Bhasha software with the CQ 2000 line-up will make it possible for Indian consumers to buy a computer and use it in their own language. Compaq My Bhasha is based on FTK's patented 'LooKeys Pro' technology. FTK Technologies have said that the software is easy to use and currently supports ten languages - Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, Gujarati, Marathi, Telugu, Bengali, Malayalam, Punjabi, and Urdu.
Earlier this month, Lenovo launched its 'Matrubhasha' initiative for children in Bangalore, which is also based on FTK's LooKeys technology. Their project involved providing Lenovo H series desktops installed with Matrubhasha to children from Akshara Foundation, to libraries, and to Kannada government schools.
Lenovo's 'Matrubhasha' project is an
independent endeavor to reach out to less privileged children in
Bangalore. It was Lenovo's initiative to acquire software licenses of the multi-lingual
software for the desktops that will be donated to the Akshara
Foundation and government schools.
On a different note, those who buy a CQ 2000 desktop installed with Compaq My Bhasha will be eligible to win a 32-inch LCD TV. There are plans to introduce a rewards program for its channel partners too. The CQ 2000 series was launched in February this year and is available at a starting price of Rs. 18,990 (plus taxes). The company has also launched a new portal at www.compaqmybhasha.com.
