HCL Technologies has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with six colleges in Chennai to kick-off its first "GoPro" or "Campus to Corporate" campus engagement initiative.
Simply put, this is a career development program that seeks to groom future denizens of the corporate world, with special focus on getting women's colleges to help in widening gender representation in the corporate world.
"GoPro" involves training in non-technical and soft skills in preparing students for the demands of professional life. HCL claims the program will increase students' 'employability quotient'.
The training module includes soft skills, communication, etiquette, and attitudinal and behavioral skills. It is structured so as to encourage 'innovation and creativity' among students, which according to HCL, is an essential part of the development of any organization.
Overall, "GoPro" aims to serve as a bridge to the corporate world, helping in honing, inculcating, and developing capabilities deserving of tomorrow's professionals.
HCL has signed the MoU with colleges including: Ethiraj College for Women; MOP Vaishnav College for Women; Stella Maris; SSN College of Engineering; Sri Venkateswara College of Engineering; and Thiagarajar College of Engineering.
HCL also plans to tie-up with Women's colleges to encourage greater gender representation in the professional workforce. This apart, there are 'Technology Labs' on the anvil -- places that would facilitate training and research for students as well as for faculty members.
Im a Freelance corporate Trainer with 12+ years of experience.
My question is how would you measure the effectiveness of the program.
