Guruji.com, the Web search engine, has announced the launch of Indian language search, with the first phase to cover Hindi, Telugu, and Kannada language search.
The company said that with this initiative, it aims to enhance the Web experience of Indian Web users, as this service enables them to search for content in their own language.
Guruji's Indian language search engine covers a range of specific content, including news, entertainment, travel, astrology, literature, business, and education amongst others.
Announcing this initiative, Anurag Dod, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Guruji.com, said, "What sets us apart is our focus on the Indian market, and the Indian consumer. China has become a big Internet economy because of content availability and accessibility in local languages. If India were to grow at the same rate, we need more focus on the vernacular, and it's only then we would have truly empowered Indian consumers."
Gaurav Mishra, Co-Founder & Chief Operating Officer, Guruji.com, explains, "Ninety percent of Internet search queries are local in nature, and Guruji.com will deliver better search results than any other search engine in these instances. The next wave of growth for Internet in India will be fuelled by the growth of vernacular content, and the way it is accessed by consumers across the country, and the Indian language search engine from Guruji is a step in that direction."
It is learnt that the search engine uses crawl technology, which discovers content in the desired language. The user can also type a keyword in Roman English, and the virtual keyboard of the software converts it into a vernacular language to get the search started.
Meanwhile, the company plans to launch the same service in Malayalam and Tamil language next month, followed by launch in 10 major Indian languages in the coming months.
