Google India has unveiled a 'Cricket World Cup Campaign' with the promise to provide Cricket fans a uniquely interactive experience through the Internet.
The campaign aims at helping users write, share, debate, and enjoy the Cricket World Cup through an integrated platform of Google products like Google Desktop, personalized homepage, blogger, and Orkut by means of a special landing page at www.google.co.in/cricket.
Claiming to be a one-stop shop for Cricket fans to get all their information related to the World Cup, the campaign would give users access to regular updates, and help them post individual comments and analyses, etc.
Renowned Cricketers/Commentators, including Krishnamachari Srikkanth, will host an expert blog named 'Cricket Zone with Krish Srikkanth' at www.worldcupwithkrish.blogspot.com. This blog will allow users interact with Cricket experts and other bloggers on the performance of various teams, as also engage in match analyses and a host of other interactive sessions.
Apart from the blog, Krish will bring expert content to an interactive social networking experience through the Orkut Krishcricket community. Google is also hosting a blogging Cricket contest where both existing as well as new users can post anything related to the World Cup ranging from on-the-ground reporting from West Indies to viewers' opinions on the progress of the teams.
Additionally, Google is embarking on an educational road show with a fully equipped Blogger vehicle to move across cities like Bhopal, Ahmedabad, and Hyderabad, educating people on the use of the Internet and blogging for self-expression. This educational road show is scheduled to begin from Chandigarh on March 19, 2007.
