Google Sued Again!

Google Sued Again!

Google has been sued over placing ads on parked domains and error pages, in what appears to be another attempt at milking Google for money.

In a latest lawsuit filed against Google, a lawyer has accused the Internet giant of fraud practice by placing his ads worth $136.1 on parked domains and error pages, which did not convert into leads, thus resulting in a loss for him.

Lawyer Hal K. Levitte, who had advertised to promote his law practice's website through a Google AdWords pay-per-click campaign in 2007 has filed the class-action lawsuit in U.S. District Court in San Jose, California. The lawsuit alleges the Internet giant of fraud, business code violations, and unjust enrichment by selling ads that were unlikely to generate conversions, writes Information Week.
According to the suit, the online ad campaign that ran from 1 June 2007 to 18 August 2007 received 2,02,258 impressions from parked domains (domains that are registered but have no web pages) and 1,009 from error pages. However, Levitte got just 668 hits from parked domains and just 25 hits from error pages, none of which actually converted into a lead, giving him no business.

The complaint states that domain and error page ads accounted for approximately 16.2% of all clicks on plaintiff's ads during his campaign, yet did not result in a single person completing the online form on the site, or contacting the plaintiff by phone or email. This news was first reported by Information Week.

Meanwhile, another site Domain Name Wire, a domain industry source has pointed out that although there is fraud on domain parking, this appears to be another manufactured lawsuit aiming to milk Google for money. The article in Information Week doesn't suggest how the lawyer's ads converted on other pages. And only $136 worth of ads on parked domains is hardly a fair sample size.
