Google Puts Adsense in Online Games

Expands its online advertising footprint
Google continues to expand its foothold in the online advertising arena. Their latest move is Adsense for Games that allows an advertiser to place ads in a publisher's online game.
Google sees this a potential source of income. According to a comScore report, over 25% of Internet users worldwide play online games which translate to over 200 million people and this figure is rising by 17% annually.
Adsense for Games is currently in Beta. The service allows a publisher to display video ads, image ads or text ads within their online games to earn more revenue. The ads can be placed before the game starts, after a level change or when the game is over.
A small number of publishers such as Konami, Playfish, Zynga, Demand Media and Mochi Media are already trying out the new monetization technique with ads from beta advertisers such as Esurance, Sprint and Sony Pictures.
Google will soon be opening this to most publishers but if you're one of those websites who has 5,00,000 game plays per day and 80% traffic coming from the U.S. or the U.K, then you can apply as a beta publisher right away.
