Check, manage Locations history and also get alerts when close by
Google added new Location History and Location Alerts (in beta) for its Latitude service. The new Location History will allow Latitude user to keep tab of the places he/she has been. Both new features are available only to registered Latitude service users.
Google had launched Latitude for desktop and mobile phones back in February. Since then, Latitude showed only user location which changed with the user's device position. Now, with the new Location History feature, a user can view and manage past Latitude locations. The Latitude Location History can be viewed only by the user and not his/her friends. The user can also delete selected Locations history or entire Latitude locations history.
Latitude also got the new Location Alerts feature that provides alerts to regularly visited locations based on the user's Location History. The good thing about these alerts is no nuisance would be created when user is at home or workplace. Apparently, some features from Google acquired Dodgeball service was finally put to some use. Dodgeball was shutdown earlier this year in February.
This feature still is in beta stage and requires Latitude History to be enabled first. It's likely that Google will bring ad support in Location Alerts so that users can get nearest Subway or any other ads on their devices.
