Gmail Accounts Disabled by Mistake

Some Gmail users posted their grievance on the Gmail Help Discussion Forum about their accounts being locked, though just for sometime.

In a very recent incident, Google had accidentally disabled some Gmail accounts in an attempt to deal with spammers.

Some users posted their grievance on the Gmail Help Discussion Forum about their accounts being locked.

However, a Google staffer, who monitors and posts messages on Gmail Help forum, acknowledged the existence of the occurrence on behalf of the company.

Identifying the problem, Google said that their efforts to prevent breach of the Terms of Use (policy) caused a number of users to be incorrectly identified as spammers or other abusive users.

Several hours later, Google Guide declared that things were back to normal and the accounts that were disabled have regained access with no data loss.

Meanwhile, the messages that were sent to the displaced account during the problem period will not reach the inbox, but bounce back to the sender, Google said.

I have signed myself withdeepshikhadhir@gmail.com,but in the secondary e=mail colunm I typed again deepshikhadhir@gmail.co.in instead of other mail account to get verification please help me to change the mail as deepshikhadhir@hotmail.com this is my address which is existing mail to get information.

my account was deleted yesterday as well. i can't access one of my email accounts, and worse, i can't access either of my blogs, one of which i post on every day. trying to find a help form or phone number has been a disaster. i really don't know what to do.

I just got my gmail account disabled yesterday Dec.23rd. Guess Google are using grouping strategy to identify the source(s) of spam. If my account was keeping disabled for another week, I have no reason to trust Google's to be the tech leading position.

Mine was summarily disabled tonight (12/23/07) without warning, explanation, or reason. What a load of bull. I was using gmail for my primary account. NO MORE! This is worse than inconvenient -- it's two days till xmas and I am going on vacation. All my family and friends can't reach me and if they try they get a message telling them the account is deleted instead of temporarily disabled. This SUCKS!

मुझे भी पिछले महीने ऐसे कई ई मेल जी मेल की ओर से आए थे जिन्हें मैंने फ्राड समझकर कोई कार्रवाई नहीं की। मैं बच गया। सभी को ऐसे ही बचाए रखना। जी मेल प्रबंधन को ऐसे उपाय कर लेने चाहिएं ताकि ऐसा दोबारा न हो। इसी कामना और विश्वास के साथ कि ईश्वर जो करता है अच्छा करता है।

I wonder what Google's connection with spam is! When I try to download updates from genuine google site I end up getting untrustworthy site. Why did they host it then?!

I heavily use Google services. 'am highly dependent upon Google's free internet services from e-mails, news, calender, alerts to Google reader. I simply request Google to not to go wrong any time in the future.

there is an option if password is lost. however, usually the details maybe sent to the alternate email id given at the time of creating the account(which could be his). or if the questions asked for verification can be answered (if you know them) the password can be changed to a new one. Google will not help in password retreival in any other way. Alternatively, you can get some hacker to break in to the account, but I am not sure if it will work, but you also run the risk of hacker misusing any confidential information.
