Gandalf Rides Again. Ish.

Will now use terrorists' cell phones to send them back to Mount Doom

The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) -- basically the US Department of Defense's science guys -- have come up with what might be an ingenious way to nab terrorists. But we can't tell you what it truly is -- it's classified. However, there is some information out there.

Apparently, Gandalf will use "radio frequency geolocation" to track a "signal emitter of interest," which is probably the suspect's cell phone. Agents in the field will likely be able to track these "signal emitters" using cell phone-like devices of their own, or perhaps the phones themselves.

All this sounds much like the Palantirs from The Lord of the Rings -- crystal balls that can spy on each other. However, as any Rings fan will tell you, the Palantirs weren't used by Gandalf. They were used by Sauron. The bad guy. Draw your own conclusions now.
