Flash Drive Surpasses Blu-ray Capacity

Flash Drive Surpasses Blu-ray Capacity

Kingston's new offering - the DT150 USB drives

Kingston is shipping its all-new USB flash drive, DataTraveler 150, in 64GB and 32GB capacities. The massive boost in the USB flash drive under DataTraveler series allows more storage for digital files.

Do you recollect the time when we had 20GB hard disks? The DT150 64GB surpasses the storage capacity of Blu-ray Disc as well. The DT150 is compatible with Windows Vista (no support for Windows ReadyBoost yet), Windows XP, Windows 2000 (SP4), Mac OS X 1.3 or higher, and Linux with Kernel 2.6 and above.

As per recent user reports, the DT150 offers speeds anywhere between 28MB-30MB seconds read speed while the write speed on the NAND was reported to be low by a user. Check more user reviews from New Egg here.

The DT150 64GB is priced at $177 (Rs. 8,850 approx) and 32GB is priced at $116 (Rs. 5,800) with a five-year warranty on both capacities.

Looks perfect for media professionals to carry their data. However, the hefty price tag might make Indian audience think twice. 'Wait and watch' would be the strategy as prices of Flash memory have come down in the last couple of months.

The speeds won't be anything impressive. And given that it's Kingston, it probably would be worse than Corsair.

Corsair speeds are also bad these days. their 16GB GT is like their regular 16GB Voyager. No sense to buy GT anymore.

20 GB ? That was too recent. I remember my first Hard Drive was 1.2 GB yes just 1.2 GB which cost RS.9250- then. And now this. Great . At least some things look good in these days of recession and layoffs .
