Firefox Counters Chrome's Speed Test

According to Mozilla's SunSpider test, Firefox 3.1 is 28% faster than Chrome on Windows XP and 16% faster on Vista.

To counter Chrome, Google's new browser Mozilla released some performance results of the forthcoming version of Firefox. And according to those results, it outpaces Chrome, reports Cnet.

At the Chrome launch, Google showed performance results of the browser using its collection of 5 JavaScript benchmarks and V8 - Chrome's JavaScript engine. To counter this, Mozilla, a competitor to Google in the Internet browser space has come up with a different test called SunSpider.

SunSpider shows that the forthcoming Firefox 3.1, which uses a JavaScript acceleration technology called TraceMonkey, is faster than Chrome for JavaScript programs. It was 28% faster than Chrome on Windows XP and 16% faster on Vista.

well, its not really abt the speed. Its the very concept of how web pages are implemented and displayed on the browser (like individual processes) that makes chrome stand out from other browsers. I simply love it. But its in its beta, so caution advised!

both are really good. i think both should go on together and make another browser with qualities of both. this wud really revolutionary and wud surly remove IE's hold on the net completely

I am using Firefox, even tried chrome, however the Firefox is quicker in response and is more feature rich than any other browser.

chrome looks and feels simplistic but it may not have the juice to compete with firefox

I find chrome a fast & simple browser, but i will continue using firefox as it is feature rich and makes browsing easy with its vast add-on tools. As google leading in all phases, wait for that day when they will launch the "gPhone".
