The final version browser Firefox 3 is expected sometime next month, Mozilla said.
Firefox 3 Release Candidate 1 (RC1) is now available for download from the Mozilla Web site.
Firefox 3 RC1 has several tweaks, claims the Mozilla team. The user interface (UI) has been changed on Windows Vista, Windows XP, Mac OS X, and Linux, based on user feedback. Some behaviors in the location bar have been fine-tuned. So also page rendering has been evened out across various platforms. Changes have been made to the JavaScript engine as well to improve peformance of script-heavy Web applications such as Gmail.
Meanwhile, the final version browser Firefox 3 is expected sometime next month. So, developers and add-on developers have until then to test their code/browser extensions against the browser.

If you are a person who uses a lot of add-ons like me, you rather wait till the final version comes up. Good product.
