Excess traffic leads to failed activations and bricked iPhones
Techcrunch reports that not all is well with the iPhone launch. iPhone activations have gone down, as of now, and people are essentially stuck with dead hardware until the traffic hitting the iPhone servers simmers down a bit. The problem has affected both new users and old; trying to update their iPhone firmware.
If you are one of the lucky few to get your hands on a new iPhone 3G, or are looking to update your older iPhone OS to firmware version 2.0, our suggestion would be to wait until the rush to activation lessens before hitting that update button. Better safe than sorry.
