Facebook Homepage Gets Yet another Makeover

Another Makeover for Facebook Homepage

Techtree News Staff, Oct 26, 2009 1652 hrs IST

Have you checked it out yet?

Facebook has yet again made substantial changes to its much maligned home page without warning resulting in an expected backlash. The social networking website boasting of over 300 million users has been in the past too known for its fixation with sudden home page changes, which receive lots of attention thanks to the sheer number of Facebook users out there.

In its latest update, Facebook has tweaked its Live News feed to display only those posts that Facebook thinks would be useful for you and your network of friends. So, what you will see here are feeds that are popular and have a sizable number of comments and likes. Other posts can, of course, be seen under the Live Feeds section which is still real-time. As expected, there has been a huge hue and cry over the current changes with the homepage and with over 300 million users, it certainly is difficult to please everyone. According to Facebook, the design changes came after a decent amount of feedback from existing users and represent the larger voice of Facebook users, which wanted this system.

Other noticeable updates include the new progress bar under a profile picture. This one lets you know how active your friend is on Facebook. This is apart from the twitter-like @tag that had been recently introduced.

Have you checked the updated home page yet? You might not actually notice all these changes if you like most Indians come from the Orkut school of thought, but then, Facebook is growing here in India-- and growing too fast to be ignored.

As @tag is my username on Twitter, it would be great if you could change @tag to the correct term "@replies" - due to the popularity of this article my Twitter replies are a bit inundated to say the least, and effectively I can't use them. Thanks in advance.

Yes, but it has caused trouble with my account, it constantly says that it is temporarily unavailable, plus all my friends keep getting deleted. When will this be fixed, I see I am not the only one with this problem.

The changes are great, but a little explanation would have helped calm the masses. No one likes suprises.

I have been unable to access my FB page for several days, doesn't recognize my login or if I do access I cannot see curent info or update my profile. I wish they would spend more time fixing problems than redesigning the site.
