Today, Epson and Microsoft Corp have announced a cross-licensing agreement, which will allow both companies increased access to each other's patent portfolios. Simply put, the agreement will help both Epson and Microsoft to broaden their product offerings, and deliver more comprehensive and cost-effective solutions. Terms of the agreement have not been disclosed. Sources from the two companies say this move will promote greater exchange and implementation of patented technologies in several consumer and business Electronics segments. Commenting on the agreement, Masataka Kamiyanagi, Executive Officer of Intellectual Property Division, Epson, said, "With this agreement, we can share technologies that each company has invested in, and bring the resulting success to the marketplace. We expect to expand our mutual relations in order to protect our intellectual properties on a global level, especially against counterfeit problems." Marshall Phelps, Corporate Vice President and Deputy General Counsel for Microsoft, said, "Epson is an important industry ally for us, and by sharing our intellectual property, we can extend the reach of our respective innovations to our customers. Intellectual property licensing is a cornerstone of today's software industry, and essential for the development of comprehensive technology solutions."

This is a great news .now it will help people like us a lot. The cartridges of these companies are so expensive and there are no choices. Now by this agreement if it is possible to get the cartridges and other products in an affordable price then it is great .so I am looking forward for them to launch some cost effective products.so what all benefits will be there for the customers other than this?
