Epson has launched two new professional photo viewers; Epson P-3000 and P-5000 in the country, the first to feature a 4 color filter LCD, according to Epson.

Instead of traditional RGB color filters (Red, Green, and Blue), these photo viewers have four colors - Red, Blue, Yellow Green, and Emerald Green, which give users a wider color gamut of up to 88 percent of Adobe RGB Color Space, which results in clear, razor-sharp image quality.

The Epson P-3000 and P-5000 feature a 24-bit full color on 4-inch proprietary Epson Photo Fine Ultra LCD screen. They support most RAW formats, and can detail information such as camera settings and histograms.

Both viewers have three viewing modes such as 12 images (4 X 3 mode), 64 images (8 X 8 mode), and List (one-by-one mode). The viewers allow highlighting of shadow areas for editing purposes. Images can also be rated for easy sorting and categorisation. Furthermore, the intuitively placed One-Touch zoom (up to 400 percent) and 4-Way keys eliminate the need to fumble across numerous sub-menus.

The P-3000 and P-5000 have an Image Detection feature, which allows the user to categorise and enhance the type of photo currently on display. For example, when 'Landscape' is selected, the photo viewer optimises landscape characteristics and provides a range of clearer colors. If 'Portrait' is selected, it will automatically provide the preferred skin tone, and also correct any fogging or backlight scatter.

The P-3000 offers a storage capacity of 40GB (gigabytes), while the P-5000 offers 80GB of storage capacity. Both viewers come with built-in memory card slots. The supported storage types include CompactFlash Type I and II and Secure Digital memory cards. In addition, they can also be connected to an external USB storage and PictBridge device for seamless file transfers.

The two photo viewers support a wide range of video formats including MPEG 1, 2 and 4, DivX, H.264, Windows Media Player 9 and Motion-JPEG, backed by high bit rates to ensure smooth playback. For optimised viewing pleasure, viewers can select from 'Home Video', 'Cinema' or 'Nature' mode to bring out the best colors and contrast.

The viewers can also be used as portable media players with features such as edit playlists, select tracks, and an Equaliser function with support for MP3 and WMA file formats.

The Epson P-3000 and P-5000 are available at maximum retail prices of Rs 36,000 and Rs 50,000 respectively.
