Epson Colour Imaging Contest 2008

1500 entries expected from India's best photographers.
Seiko Epson Corporation, better known as Epson, today announced the launch of the Epson Color Imaging Contest 2008, a pan-Asia competition for digitally output photographs and graphic works.
In its fifteenth year now, this contest is a way for Epson to help promote the growth of digital imaging. This is the fifth year that contestants from India will be participating in this pan-Asian contest. Countries from around Asia, including Japan, participate in this contest that provides a platform for India's photographers and graphic artists to compete with the best in Asia. This year, the total prize money will be to the tune of approximately Rs. 30 lakhs. Epson received about 850 entries from contestants in India in 2007. Epson says it expects to receive about 1500 entries from India this year. In the past few years, there have been 20 winners at the Pan-Asia level from India including one grand runner up in the Photography category. Apart from this, many photographers have won prizes at the India level as well. This year, photographers stand to win prizes at 3 levels: Asian region, S-E Asia region & India.
The Grand Prize winner will receive two million yen (approximately Rs. 8 Lakhs) and an Epson product, the second prize winner will receive one million yen (approximately Rs. 4 Lakhs) and an Epson product. There are also many other prizes for those who enter into the photography and graphics category.
Regional Award
Epson has introduced a new regional award to this year's contest. Photographers and graphic artists from Singapore, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines and Vietnam will compete for this award. The Regional Grand Prize winner will receive S$ 5000 (approx Rs. 1.58 Lakhs) and an Epson product, the second prize winner will receive S$ 2000 (approx Rs. 64,000/-) and an Epson product.
Award-winning entries that receive top awards will be invited to the award ceremony in Japan. Works of winning entries will also be published in a catalogue produced by Seiko Epson Corporation.
India Award
The India Awards are exclusively for Indian entries. The India Grand Prize winner will receive an Epson Stylus Photo RX690 (All-in-Ones) [1 Winner], the second prize winner will receive an Epson PictureMate PM270 [2 Winners], the third prize winner will receive an Epson Stylus Photo R290 [3 Winners] and the fourth prize winner will receive an Epson Stylus TX200 (All-in-Ones) [4 Winners].
