Samsung Telecommunications India has launched eight mobile phones, including the SGH-U900 aka the Soul in the country.
Speaking at the launch, Sunil Dutt, country head of Samsung Telecommunications India, said, "We believe that the Soul is the answer for today's style-conscious consumers, looking for a perfect blend of outstanding quality, design, and performance."
The Soul sports a minimalistic design with full metal body and premium look and feel. It has features that adapt themselves to the user depending on the application. Magic Touch by DaCP is one such feature that makes navigation of menus simpler, more intuitive, and direct. Also, the icons on the navigation panel change according to function to match user needs.
The Soul is just 12.9mm thick, and comes with a 5 mega pixels camera and features such as face detection, image stabilizer, and Wide Dynamic Range (WDR). Users can access Internet through the 7.2 Mbps High Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) browser, and share images/videos taken with the phone. The Soul also features Music library navigation, and digital power amplifier by ICEpower technology. It is priced at Rs 20,585.
In the business category, Samsung launched the SGH-i780 and the D780 phones. The sleek SGH-i780 comes with a full QWERTY keyboard and a full touch-screen. It runs on Windows Mobile 6.0; and offers push email, MS Office, and MSN Chat. It comes with GPS capabilities, an optical mouse, Wi-fi support, and 2 mega pixels camera. The SGH-i780 is priced at Rs 25,000. The other phone in the business category, the D780, is a tri-band, dual-SIM phone equipped with SIM toggle key, 2.1-inches QVGA TFT display, 2 mega pixels camera, FM alarm, MP3 music player, email with XHTML, Bluetooth and Bluetooth printing capability, and support for up to 11 hours battery talk time.
In the multimedia category, Samsung launched the SGH-E251, SGH-M120, and SGH-J150 mobile phones. The SGH-E251 is Samsung's latest music phone, and comes with dedicated music control keys, 1GB content loaded MicroSD, FM radio with RDS, and MP3 music player. The SGH-M120 sports a stylish chrome finish, and comes with MP3 music player, stereo FM radio, video camera, GPRS Class 10, Cricket game and call time tracker, Hinglish messaging, and 10MB internal memory. It is priced at Rs 3,795. The SGH-J150 is only 9.9mm thick and sports a metallic design. It comes with a 1.9-inches display, 1.3 mega pixels camera, MP3 music player, FM radio, Bluetooth connectivity, and expandable memory (MicroSD). It is priced at Rs 5,300.
Another new phone launched in the multimedia category is the BeaT450, which, Samsung claims, brings alive the pulsating experience of 3D surround sound powered by ICE power amplifiers by Bang and Olufsen. Samsung claims storing, accessing, and juggling music on this phone would give users a new high thanks to the revolutionary music wheel and the dual-slider form factor. The BeaT450 is priced at Rs 14,799.
Finally, Samsung launched two new Guru handsets: the Guru 145 and the Guru 300. The Guru 145 represents entry-level in the Guru series. It comes with a 65k color CSTN display, speaker phone, mobile tracker, 16 poly-phonic ring tones, and 8 hours battery talk time. It is priced at Rs 1,696. The other new Guru phone, the Guru 300, is a stylish pearl-finish flip phone. It offers multimedia features including FM recording, MP3 ring tones, Hinglish messaging, Indian calendar, and Java games (Cricket and Sudoku). The handset is priced at Rs 2,999.
Additionally, Samsung launched mobile accessories including the unique coin-shaped Samsung headset WEP 500, and WEP 420.
