The motherboards promise power savings of up to 70 percent and improved power efficiency up to 20 percent -- just with the click of a button.

Gigabyte today announced the launch of their full range of "Dynamic Energy Saver" motherboards, including X48, X38 and P35-based motherboards. These promise power savings of up to 70 percent and improved power efficiency up to 20 percent -- just with the click of a button.

Gigabyte claims their "Dynamic Energy Saver" motherboards feature advanced proprietary software and hardware, including high-quality components from Intersil. The multi-gear power phase design of the motherboards allows for efficient switching of power phases depending on CPU work load. Meaning when CPU work load is light or at idle, "Dynamic Energy Saver" down-shifts gears allowing only minimum required power phases, and vice versa. By turning-off power phases that are not required, the "Dynamic Energy Saver" motherboards are able to save power up to 70 percent as compared to traditional motherboards.

Also, while in traditional power phase designs, every gear is required to operate at less than optimum efficiency which causes gaps in power efficiency. Not so with the "Dynamic Energy Saver" design, wherein gears can be switched on or off before they start to lose efficiency. Hence, the company claims up to 20 percent improved power efficiency is possible.

Additionally, the user interface (UI) of the "Dynamic Energy Saver" motherboards allows users to turn on- and off- the power saving features with a simple click of the Dynamic Energy Saver button. The UI features different modes such as the meter mode which shows how much power users have saved over a period of time, total mode which shows total power savings accumulated, and so on.

In terms of design, the motherboards have an LED display on them, which allows users to see dynamic gear shifting in real time. And, Gigabyte claims that the motherboards when paired with Intel 45nm CPUs deliver the best platform for multitasking, multimedia, and high performance gaming -- all this while consuming very little power.
