DishTV has reportedly introduced 'DishTV on computer', which is a special set top box which when connected to a desktop PC, helps consumers easily alternate between a computer and Live TV.

'DishTV on computer' extends the DishTV experience to the computer, offering consumers a dual advantage, as also an array of 171 channels to choose from, along with value added services, active features, gaming, etc.

Besides, installing a 'DishTV on computer' is similar to installing a regular DishTV, wherein the set top box is installed on the roof/terrace/balcony facing a particular direction, and the VGA box or special, computer-compatible set top box is connected to the PC.

Commenting on the launch, Jawahar Goel, managing director of DishTV, said that 'DishTV on computer' will provide customers with a digital TV viewing experience while working on a computer -- at just the click of a button.

According to DishTV, 'DishTV on computer' is ideal for consumers who possess a TV and a computer, or those who want to swap between computer and TV viewing, or computer geeks who do not have a TV, etc.

The company intends launching the product in a phased manner, currently being made available in select cities, including Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Kolkata, Pune, Ahmedabad, and Hyderabad.

The VGA box is available through hi-end consumer durable outlets that already sell DishTV. As also through computer and peripherals outlets via a special tie-up with TVSE. It is priced at Rs 4,150, inclusive of equipment, installation, and taxes.

I would advise people to be cautious in anything to do with DishTV. All is fine during sales and installation but as soon as you require service you will wish that you had never gone with DishTV. Typical customer service response time is > 20 minutes and unsatisfactory to be polite

Ya.. but it gives just the monitor vga output alongwith AV output for a tv set.I have installed Pinnacle TV tuner/ recorder card in PC which itself converts the AV input for tv set to vga output via pc monitor .The benefit is you can also record the programs, as well as recording from handicams,vcrs is also possible.

Tata sky is rally good compared to DishTv.The picture quality is outstanding and their menu system is slick and easy to use and renewal is a breeze compared to the NIGHTMARE one has to face when renewing Dishtv subscriptions!!! Dishtv pic quality is all very boxy and horrible!

The DishTv is a real head ache.They charge us for unseen movies on demand.If queried the voice says we saw the movie and hence the bill. Quality of reception is so poor and they simply say it is becs of sun outing.I wa sfed up and hence did not renew

Dishtvs service is terrible and to get your package upgraded is a nightmare! The ads and and media representation of dishtv makes it look all so sweet and wonderful but when you interact or try to maybe pay for your subscription thats when the fun reaaly begins! I have had a customer service representative telling me that the other rep said something wrong to you sir and that he is lying and i will tell you the truth about your subscription!PLEASE SUBSCRIBE TO DISHTV AND ENJOY THEIR WONDERFU AFTERSALES SERVICE!!!!!!

So Hows the resolution output of this thing, will it work on widescreen lcd? I mean, Then I could get a 22" dell lcd for 19000 and this at 4000, or better 19" lcd for 11000 and this at 4000. so LCD tvs at 15000. Not bad.
