DishTV Bhi, Tata Sky Bhi?

Both DishTV and Tata Sky have announced very similar subscription schemes to attract customers to their respective fold.
This monsoon, it's not just raining -- but raining schemes -- from DTH (Direct-to-Home) service providers.
The two strong competitors in the DTH market; DishTV and Tata Sky, have announced very similar subscription schemes to attract customers to their respective fold.
The lastest scheme from DishTV, which is called "Free Bhi Zyada Bhi", offers new connections for Rs 3,999, along with six months of free subscription. In case of multiple connections required in the same household, subscribers can enjoy up to 12 months of free subscription.
With "Free Bhi Zyada Bhi", those with more than one TV set in the house need not worry about subscription at least for a few months. They can avail of this scheme, and enjoy up to 146 channels under the highest-tier 'Maxi' package, for free.
Meanwhile, a similar subscription scheme dubbed "1pe3 2pe5" has been launched by Tata Sky, under which, customers can get up to 5 months of free subscription on the top-end subscription package that comprises 99 channels and 6 interactive services -- all for Rs 300 per month.
Then again, consumers can avail 3 months of free subscription on the purchase of one connection, and 5 months of free subscription on the purchase of two or more connections.
Additionally, Tata Sky has also introduced three new channel packages: the starter pack for Rs 160, with 39 channels; the family pack for Rs 250, with 76 channels; and the western pack for Rs 250, with over 71 channels.
Both sides in the DTH war are trying hard to strengthen their subscriber base across cities in India. If reports are to be believed, Tata Sky currently offers 108 channels to its 700,000-odd subscribers; while DishTV offers 170 channels to its nearly 2.1 million subscribers.

Only in the case of heavy rain blackout is there, but there is a advantage in case of dishtv, that on satellite a automatic level control is there which can increase the signal level automatically, hence blackout on dishtv is less as compared to dd and tsky.

Dish TV provides more channels and is giving some offers also but if you look at other asects like service, tata sky is best. Tata sky also has all major channels unless u are looking for something speific, u can check the list before deciding. Also the digicomp which u get from tata for rs 3000 is urs , whereas in distc. it's for same price but that's on lease. you can decide accordingly.

Yes,dishtv offers you much more regional channels for every region there are more than 8 channels but for Bengali there are more than 10 channels.There is Nepali channel for you to see.In every field dish tv leads ie. in kids,news,general channels etc.for music it has 5 channels more than tata sky.fore more info visit www.dishtvindia.in channelpreview

It is fine that Tata sky is offering 108 channels but I may remind that zee premier,action,classic,sports,smile,music,etcmusic,zee telugu,kannada are no more in tata sky,but all these channels and many more channels are available on dish tv.There are going to be 220 channels in 4 or 5 months.At present only dish tv offers u 22 audio channels in my view please try to put dishtv

I feel the latest advertising gimmick by the DTH operators' of giving free subscription for 3-6 months for new connection is because anyways the reception wont be good enough till the rains last. Even if there is disruption in the reception, atleast the consumer will not make a hoo-haa because its free. Wake-up consumers... what happens when the rains go away???

Hmm... Just that I have tata sky and after I have shifted house, tata sky can't get a signal from my newly rented flat. They want the terrace but the society is not allowing that. Tata sky say they are helpless. Thus, the 4000 rupees worth of connection and digicomp (that I bought 1 year ago) is a waste lying with me as of now - that, too, after I am giving another 600 rupees for shifting.

Recently I shifted to Tata Sky as i am aware of Sky in the UK. They said I would get one month free as I subscribed through credit card. Now they are offering 4 months free but they still did not give me that one month free. Except that the service is good. But I would prefer a all in one service for telephone, internet, and TV. I heard Reliance and Airtel are coming that way. I will go for Airtel as I already have landline, internet, and mobile connections with it.

All you need to do is complain to TRAI. Providing Doordarshan channels within all packages is compulsory for every service provider. Dish TV can lose their license if they fail to do so.

MTNL is offering IPTV in Mumbai but the sales guys do not recommend it. The performance is not very good & they have not ironed out the glitches yet. This when I live barely 100 meters from the telephone exchange. Think about people who are a few kilometers away from the exchange.

I was very happy when I got my Tatasky Connection but now am repenting. Why? Well consider the following: 1. During rains - no connection. Even a sharp drizzle there is no signal. They have confirmed now that this should be expected. 2. They have discontinued Zee Classic channel which shows nice old hindi movies. 3. They now dont show Neo Sports. 4. No Hindi music channels.

You began well to say its monsoon and raining! Please let everyone know that when it rains or clouds form over, then no matter which DTH you have, the signals go haywire and finally, what you see or may say 'read' on your Tv set is "Set top box is unable to receive any signal".In the midst of your favourite programmes, the DTH comes 'under a cloud !'

Any device that requires a direct satellite feed faces this problem. The problem exists with Worldspace too. I would prefer the signal going off completely rather than struggle to look for picture through grains which is what happens when your with a cable operator. You don't have miles of cable running to your house so the failure rate is nil with DTH. The LNB used by all DTH providers is of acceptable quality and is capable of lossless signals for upto 4 television sets

Installing either Dish or Tata TV is waste of money till dish is made strong enough to hold against wind and rain. It should be secured to the direction it is tuned. I prefer to go for DD direct where I get 50 channels with no charges! Still I pay on an average Rs.100/- per month to the shop who sets the dish right every time it changes its direction!

who and why go to DTH?? the only reason is reception quality....... else who want to expand on such an expensive solution i.e. Rs.6000 one time charge for one tv and Rs.11000 one time charge for 3 tvs, compared to cable tv(Rs.200-250/month). those who have gave with their cable tv bad reception, have no other option other than DTH. nobody wants to invest such a huge amount, if he is getting perfect picture. and i never seen bad video quality while raining, i have tatasky installed at home.
