At the CES in Las Vegas next week, Autonet Mobile will launch a new wireless service capable of turning any car into a WiFi Hotspot.
Next week, at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, Autonet Mobile, the world's first in-car Internet provider, will launch a new wireless service capable of transforming any car into a WiFi Hotspot.
Autonet will also announce a partnership with a world leading car rental company to offer a portable, wireless Internet service by the end of Q1 of 2007.
Autonet Mobile's objective is to bring a new Internet media center to vehicles in the form of the first Wireless Broadband Mobile Network. This would allow passengers to check email, surf the Internet, play games, or communicate through any WiFi-enabled device.
The service is presently optimized to work on 95 percent of US roads, irrespective of driving conditions. The Autonet Mobile Unit can be plugged into a cigarette lighter or standard wall plug. Similarly, it can be easily removed from the car and put into a small bag.
Thanks to patent pending TRU technology, seamless Internet connectivity is enabled, wherein passengers can stay connected while driving.
TRU Technology makes for intelligent, dynamic automatic session management between high/low speed networks, thus producing a reliable user experience.
Typically, with the Autonet Mobile Service, a secure, broadband-level connection to any WiFi-enabled device within close proximity of the vehicle is ensured.
Sterling Pratz, CEO of Autonet Mobile, said, "We live in a car centric society and our Autonet Mobile Service is directly addressing the communications needs of today's drivers and passengers. We are putting the connected lifestyle in the car with an easy to use service for executives and families on the go."
The Autonet Mobile Unit is priced to retail at $399 with a monthly service charge of $49.
With the way things are one needs more than one cigarette lighter chargers 1) for zune/ipod/Laptop etc. 2) FM transmitter 3) GPS 4) mobile phone so see there are so many devices and guess what if you are using Infra ray camera with a LCD for driving at night & fog you need a lot more chargers! :-)
