An eco-friendly club that lights itself using the Power of Disco(tm)
Here's some news to shake a leg to: a new club in the Netherlands has designed its dance floor in such a way that it gets lit-up when people 'shake their thing' on the dance floor. Called WATT, the club is making an effort to save electricity and to dance towards a more eco-friendly setup. The disco lights become more dynamic as more dancers hit the floor. So basically it's the dancers who generate the power to light up the floor.
Not just the dance floor, but the washroom too is another attraction for those visiting WATT. The club collects rain water and uses it for drainage. The bathrooms are fitted with transparent pipes that allow users to see the rain water running through those pipes while you flush -- cheekily called the 'pee experience'.
These designs are aimed at saving about 30 percent of the electricity needed to run the club and about 50 percent of water, as compared to other traditional nightclubs. This new eco-friendly club follows in the footsteps of another such club named 'eco' in London. This concept has also been adapted by some restaurants and cafes, reports Reuters.
