D-Link has introduced a new wireless router dubbed Xtreme N router "DIR-655" that the company claims uses the latest Draft 802.11n wireless technology. "DIR-655" claims to be faster than Ethernet, and is targeted at consumers, small businesses, and gamers craving for the highest performance possible from their wireless networks.
Promising faster speeds and a range further than that found in 802.11g wireless products, the new router claims to be the industry's first Gigabit Draft N router to incorporate intelligent wireless Quality of Service (QoS) technology. This technology automatically prioritizes high-bandwidth and latency-sensitive wireless data traffic, allowing users to experience smooth-streaming HD video, lag-free gaming, and jitter-free voice over Internet (VoIP) calls, the company said.
The "DIR-655" is shipping with Gigabit- local area network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN) ports. In addition, it comes with an integrated wireless security wizard, Windows Connect Now (WCN) for connecting WCN-enabled devices, Network Magic's management features from Pure Networks, removable antennas for flexible installation, and a wall-mount option. Other key features include: Xtreme N (2.4GHz and 5 Ghz) technology, up to 300Mbps of wireless speed, Stateful Packet Inspection, wireless multimedia, Intelligent Wireless Prioritization Technology, enhanced wireless security WEP, WPA, or WPA2 encryption, Wi-fi Protected Access (WPS), and Quick Router Setup Wizard.
The D-Link Xtreme N router "DIR-655" is available for around Rs 12,500 plus taxes.
