Creative has announced its "PCMCIA Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Notebook," which the company says, is the first of its kind.

The "PCMCIA Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Notebook" can be plugged into any notebook computer's PCMCIA slot, and enables users to listen to PC games or play-back MP3 music on their notebooks with considerable improvement in audio quality.

According to Creative, its "PCMCIA Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Notebook" is the first PCMCIA card to enable hardware-accelerated EAX 4.0 Advanced HD and 3D positional audio for games, as also virtual surround sound with Multi-Speaker Surround (CMSS) 3D support. The Speaker Docking Cable makes for easy connection to a home multi-channel speaker system.

Creative's Sound Blaster supports high-quality playback of 24-bit/192kHz content (including Advanced Resolution DVD-Audio); it improves MP3 music by delivering excellent audio clarity of 104dB SNR; and also incorporates EAX music tools such as Audio Clean Up and Smart Volume Management.

Bundled along with the Sound Blaster Audigy comes Creative's new Smart Recorder software for easy and automated recording of audio sources directly to MP3 format. Users can enjoy THX-certified, 24-bit, Advanced HD audio quality during DVD viewing, with support for both DTS-ES and Dolby Digital EX decoding.

Mala Sharma, director - product marketing, Creative Labs, said, "The Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS notebook is an essential audio upgrade for every notebook PC user, that listens to MP3 music on their notebook, plays games, or watches movies. It provides a superior audio quality experience to the poor quality audio that comes standard with every notebook PC. It makes for a fantastic listening experience whether the notebook user is using headphones or external speakers; the improvement in the sound quality is awesome."

Creative's new offering is slated for immediate shipment to retail outlets across the country, at an estimated street price of Rs 9,299.
