Cool Camera Offers This Season

Cool Camera Offers This Season

Pankhuri Bajaj, Jun 13, 2008 1000 hrs IST

If you like "free" gifts to entice you to purchase a shutterbug and pursue photography, your favorite hobby -- check out these ongoing promotional offers!

My cousin sent me an email the other day, narrating how she "didn't know what to do" with her remaining summer vacation going waste. I suggested her to take up photography, along with the proposal to help her get a nice deal on a new camera.

While I was on a lookout for the same, I came across some cool offers by some of the prominent camera brands. I'd like to share them with you, in case you haven't heard of them.

Canon is my favorite camera brand these days, so I'll start with them. The company has its "summer promotion" going steady -- a lucky-draw based "Singapore Offer". As the name might suggest, the lucky winner of their contest will get an all-expenses-paid trip to Singapore.

The company says that there will be 9 weekly lucky draws to select 9 weekly winners and 1 bumper lucky draw to select the big winner. The weekly lucky draw prize includes a 3 nights trip to Singapore for an individual; it includes accommodation in a 4 star hotel along with return airfare in economy class. The bumper prize involves a trip to Singapore for an individual with his/her spouse along with their 2 children. Travel and accommodation details for this prize are same as the weekly prize. The bumper draw will take place on 2nd of July.

Lastly, you are entitled to enter this lucky draw only if you purchase a Canon camera or camcorder between April 2008 and 21st June 2008, followed by registering the product. The last date for registration is 30th June 2008.

Nikon too has an ongoing promotional offer for camera enthusiasts. The company is offering an assured adventure holiday for anyone who purchases models from select range. These include some compact cameras in the Coolpix "P", "L", and "S" series, as well as all Nikon DSLR cameras, informs Raman Agrawal, sales and marketing head at Inter Foto India, an authorized Nikon center.

With the mentioned compact camera models, you get an assured domestic 2 nights, 3 days holiday, and also have a chance to win a fully loaded domestic adventure holiday. On the other hand, with select Nikon DSLR camera models, the customer wins an assured 2 nights, 3 days domestic holiday and also has a chance to not only win a fully loaded domestic adventure holiday but also a fully loaded 5 nights, 6 days international adventure holiday. You can look up the details for this promotion here.

Nikon is also offering a camera bag with all its compact cameras as well as with the D40, D60, and D80 DSLR kits. The company is also bundling along a 1GB card with compact cameras, and a 2GB card with its DSLR cameras.

Meanwhile, Kodak has a Scratch-and-Win contest going on. If you purchase a Kodak digital camera, you'd be entitled to receive a scratch card. The scraping effort could make you win an international holiday, an extended warranty, cashback on cameras, free prints, digital frames, or perhaps another Kodak camera! This offer is up for grabs till the 30th of this month.

Kodak also gives away a 1GB memory card and battery charger with all its digital cameras. Bundling a camera case, memory card, and a mini tripod is becoming more of a norm these days, rather than a promotional offer.

Well, these are the chunky official promotional offers in India this season; as for the rest of the camera brands like Sony, Fuji, Casio, and even Techcom for that matter -- they apparently have their stocks clearing up pretty fast.

That is indeed very informative. However, I wish to know which particular product among the Canon stable is best for an amateur photograhers' use.
