FingerGear has announced the launch of its Computer-On-a-Stick Flash Drive featuring a complete onboard Operating System.

FingerGear, the consumer brand of Bionopoly LLC, has announced the launch of its Computer-On-a-Stick Flash Drive. The Computer-On-a-Stick is a bootable USB 2.0 Flash Drive featuring a complete onboard Operating System.

The device also boasts of an OpenOffice Productivity Suite and includes commonly used desktop and Internet applications. This Office Suite is compatible with common Microsoft applications like Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. The Computer-On-a-Stick, incorporating both - the Operating System and the Office Suite, will be available initially with 256 MB capacity. The company said greater capacities would be available later in this quarter.

The Computer-On-a-Stick can be booted from any PC having an x86 processor, irrespective of its resident Windows or Linux OS. All emails, office documents, address books and bookmarks can be stored on the gadget without leaving a trace on the host PC. At each session, users will have to enter a login password. The Computer-On-a-Stick enables users to take their entire software apparatus with them anywhere.

Other features of this device include Mozilla FireFox browser, a PDF Viewer and Creator, a data compression utility and an Instant Messenger, which is compatible with Yahoo IM, MSN Messenger, AIM, Napster etc.

For the purpose of security and ease-of-use, the Computer-On-a-Stick has both - a public and a private partition. While the public partition is accessible on Windows, Linux and Macintosh PCs, which makes it easy to share non-sensitive files, the private directory can be accessed only when the user boots from the device and enters a login password.

Jon Louis, CEO, Bionopoly, said, "Our goal was to combine a trusted operating system, with the most commonly used software applications, all within a single secure USB Flash Drive. The Computer-On-a-Stick USB Flash Drive offers the perfect combination of security and portability".

This is a big threat to computer industry. The bad personalities will look for different use of it. Especially useful to the militants to send private messages and cannot be traced out as on the system nothing is remaining. They can use it and destroy it as soon as the message is sent. What is benefit to all good community will be distroyed by the ill personalities?
