First Digital Entertainment City

First Digital Entertainment City

Techtree News Staff, Jan 21, 2008 1705 hrs IST

The 'Digital Entertainment City' will house gaming and animation companies, film production houses and music studios, training academies and support offices.

If the government of the state of Andhra Pradesh gets to have its way, India will soon get its first ever 'Digital Entertainment City'.

The Andhra Pradesh government, in collaboration with a consortium of business/commercial establishments in the state, is mulling the country's first 'Digital Entertainment City', to be located in the capital of Andhra Pradesh, Hyderabad.

A public-private partnership, the initiative involves the likes of Gemini TV, FXLabs, DQ Entertainment, and Suresh Productions.

The proposed 'Digital Entertainment City' will house an eclectic mix of gaming and animation companies, film production houses and music studios, training academies and support offices, not to mention an entertainment complex -- all within one sprawling space.

The 'Digital Entertainment City' will also have incubators for start-up companies to make and test their products.

Towards this ambitious project, the Andhra Pradesh government will allot nearly 100 to 200 acres of land in and around Hyderabad.

A special 'Digital Entertainment City Task Force' or DECTF has already been formed, comprising government representatives and biz leaders to spearhead and manage the 'Digital Entertainment City' project.

Work on the project is expected to begin in June, with the first phase slated to reach completion by December this year.

Commenting on the initiative, S K Joshi, secretary to the Andhra Pradesh government (Information Technology and Communications Department), said the 'Digital Entertainment City' will facilitate the development and establishment of a world-class infrastructure to encourage the growth of animation, gaming, television, film, multimedia, radio, music, and new media industries in the state of Andhra Pradesh.

What is the use if it divided into two or more pieces. Dividing the state leads big break to the city... and leting two border districts revinue to Chennai and two more districts to Bengulore, the demand for creation of two or three more Hyderabad's within the state. A lot of stunt, mess seens we see in future. Rather intelects will flee away calmly.

It's very good that AP government has taken an initiative for DEC but what about maharashtra(Mumbai). We don't know when it will become Shanghai. They(Government) just commit to peoples but doing nothing. Hat's off to AP government for their initial step. Let's hope that this project will be completed without any hurdle.

AP people are too narrow minded to suceed in their ventures.Everything you guys venture into smacks of regionalism. And i am not a frustrated good-for nothing northie guy.

Hey Kalandae.. I dont know which city you belong to.. when you dont belong to a place.. you do not have any right to speak about that place. Remember that you came here to earn for your living and our AP people letting you to earn.
