Sony's PlayStation 2 gaming console is getting a new look -- at least in the Americas... Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) has reportedly announced a new limited edition 'Ceramic White' PlayStation 2 console, to come bundled with the popular karaoke game, 'SingStar Pop'. While the Ceramic White PS2 will sport the same sleek design and functions of the Charcoal Black and Satin Silver versions, it will additionally feature DVD and CD playback capabilities, digital surround sound, two memory card slots, and an integrated Ethernet port for network gaming. The added attraction, 'SingStar Pop', will enable friends and family to croon popular numbers by pop stars/groups such as Alicia Keys, U2, Rihanna, Ashlee Simpson, and The Clash. The bundle will come with 2 high-quality USB microphones to enable budding pop stars transform their living rooms into karaoke party venues -- complete with happy duets or one-on-one battles. Up to 8 players can participate in a "Pass-the-Mic" game. The Ceramic White Sony PS2 console bundle will be available in North America in November. The White PS2 bundled with the 'SingStar' Pop game will be priced at $149.99 (Rs 6,159 approx) in the US, and $159.99 (Rs 6,569 approx) in Canada.

In your article you mention that the Ceramic White PStwo will "additionally feature DVD and CD playback capabilities, digital surround sound, two memory card slots, and an integrated Ethernet port," when in fact, every slimline PlayStation 2 has that the Ethernet, card slots, surround and DVD/CD playback.

Hey if they can't sell the Ps3 then they gotta do something. The Ps2 was a good system but if your a consumer why bother at this point.Save up that extra $150+ and buy a Wii (family fun, internet)or a 360(killer games).

So Sony's new attempt is to try to make the PS2 look like the Wii. Paint it white and make people get confused between the Wii and PS2. I don't want to hear anyone else deny that Sony is getting desperate.

Only people who own the Wii, are dumb enough to get confused.
