CeBit 08: Jabra Bluetooth Headsets

Jabra has launched a couple of Bluetooth 2.0-compatible headset solutions at CeBit 2008, our correspondent reports from Cebit (Germany).
As expected, Jabra has launched a couple of Bluetooth 2.0-compatible headset solutions at CeBit 2008, reports our correspondent from the ongoing CeBit fair at Hanover in Germany.
The M5390 Multiuse and the JX20 Pura; both cater to different sets of niche consumers.
The M5390 Multiuse, launched for the perennially busy executive, can be operated simultaneously with conventional desk phones, mobile phones, or for VoIP calls using a laptop computer or PC softphone (using the Jabra A330 USB Dongle that's included in the package).
The A330 USB Dongle is capable of transforming any conventional office desk phone into a Bluetooth device. When connected to the USB socket of your PC or laptop, the adapter enables users to make phone calls via the Internet using the headset. One of the dongle's key features is that it supports wireless telephony via a headset and complies with a wide range of IP clients such as Microsoft Office Communicator 2007, Cisco IP Softphone, and Skype.
The M5390 is Bluetooth 2.0-compatible and gives an enhanced range of up to 70m (230ft). It supports frequencies of up to 6.8KHz and also makes use of noise-cancelling microphone and digital signal processors (DSP) wherein, background noises are filtered out while amplifying incoming acoustic signals, thus providing better sound quality.
The M5390 Multiuse promises up to 6 hours of talk time and a maximum standby time of 60 hours. It's priced at around Euro 179 (Rs 10,919 approx), and should be available here soon. The pricing seems to be a little over the top, but we're guessing they might use some aggressive pricing in India.
If the M5390 is designed for office executives, the JX20 Pura is a lifestyle accessory meant to be shown off while on the move. Designed by designer Jacob Jenson, this elegant headset has a brushed anodized Titanium body, offset by a Deep Black high-gloss trim. Weighing about 15 grams, the Jabra JX20 Pura comes in two sizes along with two variants of ear-gel to let the user select the most comfortable fit. It gives around 6 hours of talk time and can be charged via a USB port.
There's a necklace attachment (accessory) that lets you wear the JX20 Pura around your neck, just to show off. It's Bluetooth 2.0 compatible, supports autopairing, and uses DSP to deliver crystal-clear sound. The built-in intelligent volume control automatically adjusts to ensure that the volume is always comfortable, no matter how loudly or softly the person on the other end is speaking. The JX20 Pura is priced at $179 (approx Rs 7,160) which seems like a decent price for such a style statement.
