Announces new Zii platform to push nano-sized supercomputing through new ZiiLabs Media-Rich System-on-Chip processor
Creative has finally cleared the mystery clouds cluttering their Zii StemCell computing concept. The company has announced formation of ZiiLabs, new ZiiLABS ZMC-05 SoC (System-on-Chip) processor and Zii platform for pushing the StemCell Computing.
Basically, Zii platform will comprise ZiiLABS ZMC-05 System-on-Chip processor with dual ARM cores and integrated rich-media peripherals controller. This SoC with hardware platforms and advanced middleware is expected to be used by OEMs to manufacture a variety of innovative products based on Zii platform.
The ZMC-05 architecture has two ARM-926 cores with media-optimized 48 programmable 'Processing Elements' for boosting the performance to 10GFLOPS. This SoC can reprogram itself for faster rich media processing in real time for graphics-intensive tasks. The unused processing elements can be turned off and re-activated like in the case of switching on or off a dual-core or quad-core processor.

Creative boasts of packing 'Teraflop Accelerator' in ZMS architecture to enable Petaflops of processing power while using it on a state-of-the-art 'hypercomputer'. Further, Creative claims that the hypercomputer would be "100 times smaller, 100 times greener and 100 times lower cost than conventional supercomputers."
Like stem cells work, Creative has bolstered nano-sized computing with Zii platform. Let's hope that Creative and their ZiiLABS partners announce some Zii-powered gadgets so that an average Joe can gauge what they've achieved.
