CES 2008: SanDisk Raises Player Size

SanDisk has announced increase in capacities of two of its popular flash-based digital media players -- Sansa Clip and Sansa View.

SanDisk has announced increase in capacities of two of its popular flash-based digital media players -- Sansa Clip and Sansa View.
The tiny Sansa Clip has been moved from 2GB to 4GB, while the Sansa View is jumped up from 16GB to 32 GB.
The matchbox-sized Sansa Clip weighs only 0.9 ounces, and comes with a clip to attach it to clothing, a backpack, or a purse. The 4GB version is capable of storing 1,000 songs, and runs for 15 hours on its rechargeable battery.
Weighing 2.9 ounces, the Sansa View features a 2.4-inch TFT color screen with 320 x 240 resolution, and has built-in support for MPEG4, WMV, and H.264 video formats. The 32GB version can hold 48 two-hour movies or 8,000 songs, and supports 35 hours of audio or 7 hours of video playback.
Due in February, the 4GB Sansa Clip will be priced at $79.99, while the 32GB Sansa View will be priced $349.99.
Meanwhile, Sandisk has said it will continue with the older, low-capacity versions of both players.
Sandisk has also launched its line of high-definition video flash cards for digital camcorders. These cards will be available in both SDHC (high-capacity) and Memory Stick Pro Duo formats, and will be identified by minutes of recording time as well as by capacity such as 60-minutes (4GB) and 120-minutes (8GB).
