Andy Griffiths, Director of Consumer Electronics at Samsung UK, believes the Blu-ray format will last for just another five years before being replaced by another format or technology.
The Blu-ray format will last for just another five years before being replaced by another format or technology is what Andy Griffiths, Director of Consumer Electronics at Samsung UK, said in an interview to Pocket-lint.
However, Griffiths believes 2008 is the Blu-ray's year. Various factors including adoption of Blu-ray titles by online rental sites and availability of cheaper players are contributing to the success of Blu-ray.
However, Samsung is relying more on OLED technology instead of Blu-ray. The OLED technology is being held back at the moment because of the high manufacturing cost. The company plans to launch it in the market (around 2010) when its price will be more appealing to the consumer, said Griffiths.
