Blackberry Provides Access to Lotus Solutions
Techtree News Staff Email Print
May 15, 2008
IBM and Research in Motion (RIM) are offering a new line of Web 2.0-powered IBM Lotus collaboration software that will bring social networking, enterprise collaboration, and information-on-demand to Blackberry smart phones.

Put simply, the new Web software will allow Blackberry users manage their communication, contacts, and schedules, as also collaborate and network -- all from their smart phones. The new solution will make technologies such as portal and dashboard, social networking, messaging and calendaring, unified communication, and business intelligence available to Blackberry users anytime, anywhere.

IBM's portal and dashboard software will help businesses build Web sites and single-screen dashboard views to deliver personalized information to users. The Blackberry client for IBM Lotus Connections will help users tap into the collective knowledge of others and find information on the go. Unified communication will help users access full buddy lists, send/receive instant messages, convert IM sessions into phone calls, etc. IBM's Cognos 8 Go! mobile software will provide users with personalized and secure business information allowing them view and interact with dashboard-style reports.

This makes Blackberry the only mobile solution to provide mobile access to all major Lotus collaboration solutions, the companies claim. Blackberry client software for Lotus Sametime and Lotus Connections is available as a free download for Lotus customers over here.
