Tata Tele Services is ready to roll out BlackBerry service in next two months.

Though Indian security agencies had previously expressed concern that e-mail sent by BlackBerry devices pose a security risk as the messages cannot be intercepted. However, Tata has promised to abide by the rules whenever the government firms them up.

Managing Director of Tata Teleservices, Anil Sardana, said that "We have conveyed to the government that we will be launching BlackBerry service enabled handsets on our network and that we will abide by whatever decision is taken over security related concern."

In April this year, government had asked Tata Teleservices not to offer Blackberry services unless the required monitoring system being insisted for by security agencies are put in place. But the company later argued that since others companies are offering the service, Tatas cannot be put to disadvantage.

Reliance Communications, Bharti Airtel and Vodafone-Essar are other telecom players providing BlackBerry service in India.
