BlackBerry Storm Hits India in December

First touchscreen smartphone from RIM
Research in Motion (RIM) has finally announced their much-rumored first touchscreen smartphone -- the BlackBerry Storm. The BlackBerry touchscreen device has been in the news for quite a while, leaking all the way...
The phone will be available in India, Europe, Australia and New Zealand through Vodafone, while in the US through Verizon Wireless. Though likely to be available in India in December 2008, the pricing and carrier plan details are yet to be announced.
Dubbed as the 'iPhone killer', RIM has innovated upon the multi-touch UI with new technology. The Storm screen depresses when touched and on release leaves a soft-click like feel -- similar to a mouse-click. Hence touch-typing over the on-screen keyboard should be joyful and browsing the web would be a leisurely experience since this allows text editing. The virtual keyboards are also available in AZERTY and QWERTZ and other configurations for several language supports.
Jim Balsillie, Co-CEO for RIM, said, "This clickable interface is like an engineering marvel and it is revolutionary."
Lucky US customers will enjoy faster internet on Storm through Verizon's 3G Evolution-Data Optimized (EV-DO) Revision A (Rev. A) network, along with /HSPA GSM networks for the US and rest of the countries. Storm will work on quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE networks and single-band UMTS/HSPA -- this clearly shows that the phone will work on any network irrespective of region.
The device also comes pre-loaded with BlackBerry software for email, document management and media player for audio, video and photos. Also, a 3.2-megapixel camera helps in video recording and shows up on the bright display that is 480x360 resolution transmissive TFT-LCD.
Storm offers 128MB RAM and, most important, a 1400 mAh battery that lasts for 5.5 hours promising highest ever talktime amongst touchscreen phones. But unlike many other counterparts, Storm doesn't have a TV-out jack or Wi-Fi support. Maybe another version of Storm will carry these features.

Forgot to mention, iPhone cannot match up to what Xperia is offering even a slightest bit. Xperia is not an iPohone killer, but an iPhone ANNIHILATOR!!! And that too at almost the same price.
