BlackBerry -- No Plans for an App Store

'We don't want to be the apps store', says RIM Co-CEO Jim Balsillie
"We don't want to be the App Store because that's not our core competency, it's not our business".
At the launch of the BlackBerry Bold in India, we caught up with Co-CEO Jim Balsillie and asked him if RIM had plans to come up with an 'App Store' of its own. His retort was summed up above. He elaborated that BlackBerry's stance is that of working with its partners not competing with them. "We don't want to be the App Store because that's not our core competency, it's not our business." Jim Balsillie said, "We're trying the build the BlackBerry success by enabling and interfacing the harmony in that respect as opposed to containing and controlling and trying to do everything ourselves. We are not interested in competing with our partners. We do our own job well, and then we interface with the others."
