Legitimate competitor to the Apple iPhone?
The Storm that Research In Motion (RIM) was building up is finally approaching. Will it be successful in wiping out its official competitor, the Apple iPhone? We'll find out in the coming days as the BlackBerry-maker has announced the official launch of Storm, its latest smartphone with touch-screen capabilities, on November 21st.
In the US, the 3G-capable BlackBerry Storm 9730 will be sold through Verizon for $200, with a 2-year data plan and $50 mail-in rebate, according to reports.
The phone will be available in India, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand through Vodafone. The availability in India may be sometime in December; we will come to know the pricing and data plan only then.
RIM has been the latest entrant to toss a so-called "iPhone Killer" in the Apple-dominated touch-screen phone market. Would BlackBerry Storm be a legitimate competitor to the Apple iPhone? The two phone manufacturers do compete head-on in the smart phone market. Let us wait and watch where this Storm is headed.
