APC-MGE has announced the launch of its 1 KVA Home UPS to stay one up over possible power cuts this summer.
1 KVA Pure Sine Wave APC Home UPS (referred to as BI1000I) can power 5 lights and 4 fans, and is even safe to use to power DVD Players and TV sets. On a 100 percent load, 1 KVA APC Home UPS can provide up to 1 hr and 45 minutes back-up time, while on a 50 percent load, it can provide up to 5 hrs of back-up time.

Please add one more feather in your 1kva UPC, provide solar cell panels for charging the batteries instead of 220Volts power house supply. You can give this solar cell system at extra cost. India now needs renewable energy systems. At least I would like to install one such system in our factory to run computers and a few CFL lights.

I purches SF battery and use with Sukam invertor . After 10 month battery two cell dead . Icontect with dealer at Motizil Kanpur by phone he refused to check at my home .Then contect shop of purchase he tell me it bogus company battery dont purchase. The all shop of lalbanglow kanpur stop celling the battery due to bogus .

Few easy solutions Q - What should be checked if there is no output coming from the UPS in both "UPS" and "Power On" Mode? A - AC mains socket & on / off switch should be checked. If the switch is "On" then AC mains fuse (Located at the rear of the UPS) should be checked. Q - My UPS turns on but in "back-up" mode, what could be the problem? A - Check AC Line-in and AC fuse. Check the input voltage - it should not be below 145V or higher than 275V. Q - Why is the UPS beeping continuously when in "back-up" mode? A - The battery may not be fully charged. Recharge the UPS battery for at least for 8 hours. Q - Why there is burning smell coming out from the UPS? A - The UPS may be over loaded. Load may be exceeding the specified limit. (i.e. 360W for a 600VA UPS). Reduce the extra load. -If after reducing the extra load burning smell is still coming then check the circuit inside. Q - My UPS is giving very low backup time. What could be the cause? A - Decrease Load. Recharge the UPS for a minimum of 8 hours. Q - Why does my computer system restart every time the A/C power goes off and comes on again? A - Please check ground /earth connection of the power supply. The voltage between the ground / earth and Neutral should be below 5 Volt AC.

What are the essential protections & features for a good Inverter? Overload protection with Auto-resetting: As you apply load (bulb, fan, tubes etc.) more than inverter capacity (during Inverter ON condition), it will warn you with Beep Sound & LED Indication, in this situation the system will shut down Output for a few seconds and then start to check the load on Inverter, and do this process again & again until you don't reduce the load & when the loads become within the capacity of the Inverter, the Inverter will stop beep sound and off the OVERLOAD indication and will supply the power to your appliances automatically. Low battery /deep discharge protection: The battery must be protected from discharging completely. Lead Acid batteries / SMF / Tubular batteries should not be discharged below a certain threshold level. The battery deep discharge protection is required because a deeply discharge battery is difficult to recharge. Su-Kam's range of power Inverters have the low Battery / deep discharge. Battery over charge Protections: Overcharging occurs when battery continues to get charged with high value of current after getting fully charged. What are the essential protections & features for a good Inverter? Overload protection with Auto-resetting: As you apply load (bulb, fan, tubes etc.) more than inverter capacity (during Inverter ON condition), it will warn you with Beep Sound & LED Indication, in this situation the system will shut down Output for a few seconds and then start to check the load on Inverter, and do this process again & again until you don't reduce the load & when the loads become within the capacity of the Inverter, the Inverter will stop beep sound and off the OVERLOAD indication and will supply the power to your appliances automatically. Low battery /deep discharge protection: The battery must be protected from discharging completely. Lead Acid batteries / SMF / Tubular batteries should not be discharged below a certain threshold level. The battery deep discharge protection is required because a deeply discharge battery is difficult to recharge. Su-Kam's range of power Inverters have the low Battery / deep discharge. Battery over charge Protections: Overcharging occurs when battery continues to get charged with high value of current after getting fully charged. Such charging corrodes the battery plates and reduce the battery life. Hence battery-overcharging protections is necessary because if battery is getting over charged frequently, then it will reduce the life of battery. Su-Kam's power Inverter models have the Battery overcharge protection. Short circuit protection: A good Inverter must also protect itself from damage. Since an Inverter is a consumer product and is connected on house wiring , chance of risk must be minimized. It must have a built-in short circuit protection, so that if any equipment connected across it were to be short circuited, the Inverter itself should not get damaged due to drawing high current. The Su-Kam inverters come with a fuse free, Electronic short circuit protection. This would prevent damage to the Inverter as well as the other appliance attached to it. The Frequency stability of Su-Kam Inverters is achieved by PWM ( Pulse width Modulation) controller, which delivers stable high grade of power. This controller also ensures frequency stability with temperature to the tune of 2%. CCCV Battery charger: Inverter battery life time is maximized if the battery is always powered from a constant current constant voltage (CCCV) charger. All Su-Kam power Inverters is designed for the hostile Indian power conditions. The charger of Inverter is designed on the silicon controlled rectifier Technology (acknowledged as the best technology for battery charging), because of which power consumption is minimum and give constant charging current to batteries irrespective of A. C Voltage. Whether the A. C Voltage is 145 or 270V, the battery gets nearly the same charging current through the CCCV charger. High efficiency of system: The efficiency of the Inverter system is calculated by comparing the Input power with the Output power in the Inverter/Battery mode of operation. A device that has a high switching speed can only achieve maximum efficiency. MOSFET is a high speed-switching device. Su-Kam's 'Mech' power Inverter design is based on MOSFETS. The design has an Inverter efficiency of 95% and overall efficiency of nearly 92%. This results in more backups with less stress on batteries. What is the difference between MOSFET based power Inverters vs. other Inverters? The Inverter usually comprises of a power circuit which is 'switched' at a pre-determined Frequency to generate a stepped wave. There are various types of devices used in the inverter power circuit. Earlier technologies used bipolar junction transistors or BJT's (1960's) and power transistor (1970s). The latest generation devices are power MOSFET's which have revolutionized the inverter technology and offer unique advantages over conventional devices. MOSFET's are majority carrier, voltage-driven devices and their construction and principles of operation are fundamentally different from BJT's, which are minority carrier, current-driven devices. MOSFET's offer several significant advantages over thyristors as well, which include the ability to operate at frequencies above the audible range, low output distortion, high overload capability, negligible switching and snubber circuit losses, fast response and simple drive circuitry. Device characteristics limit the use of BJT's for high-frequency switching applications. Minority carrier delay times limit the switching speed to the 500 to 5,000 nanosecond ranges. MOSFET's on the other hand, are majority carrier devices and switch in the 20-to-100 nanosecond range. Conventional Inverter systems have an efficiency range of 60-to-80 %. MOSFET-based systems with inverter efficiency as high as 92.5%. How is this increase in efficiency obtained? Losses in the inverter circuit are primarily switching losses, snubber losses and I2R losses. Use of MOSFET's practically eliminates the first two losses. Unlike BJT's MOSFET's are majority carrier devices having no storage time effects. Switching losses are directly proportional to turn-on and turn-off times, which, for MOSFET's, are in the nanosecond range, practically eliminating switching losses. Further, in MOSFETs switching performance is essentially independent of operating temperature, unlike BJT's wherein efficiency drops as temperature increases with switching times. Snubbers are resistive devices used in inverter power circuits to control the rate of rise of voltage caused by rapid switching. MOSFET's have a very high dv/dt rating (in the range of 1000 to 2000 volts/microsec) eliminating the need for snubbers altogether. BJT's, on the other hand , have DV/DT limited to about 200 volts/micro sec. Such turn-off times need very heavy snubbers across the devices, resulting in losses. As a result of this increase in efficiency, for the same capacity battery, MOSFET-based inverters ensure longer backup time and lower AH batteries can be used, thereby reducing battery cost. Surge currents are normally generated at the time of switching on equipment, sudden changes in load, etc. For instance, a refrigerator draws up to eight times its normal current draw during start-up. MOSFET-based inverters can handle higher inrush currents. Su-Kam inverter design is based on MOSFET's. The design has an inverter efficiency of nearly 92%. What is Quasi Sine Wave (stepped sine wave), Sine wave and Square Wave? Square Wave produce the humming sound and reduce the life of the appliances. In most of the Transistor power inverter, output is the square wave on battery mode. Never Never buy an APC product. I had bought a 800 SQ inverter for my residence and have constantly been facing problems. I purchased it in April 06 and by Aug 06 it had to be replaced. We again have recurring problems with very little service support. To top it all the service rep. who came home today behaved rudely, abused my domestic help and Society electrician and refused to put off his incoming calls which were never ending. When I requested him to first listen to my problem and then answer calls, he told me that his personal calls were more important !!! Disgusting to say the least. Please take the product away - I dont want such headaches.

Please give me quote for a Single UPS Unit in which there should be following advantages: 1) Facility for joining as many batteries for future as I want and I wish. 2) It should have minimum capacity in such a way so that I can run 27-28 computers at time in the case of power failure and all the computers should be automatically put on battery mode in the power failure case. I dont know what made me buy that **** of a product called APC BS500-IN, Today that stoney thing is just occupying my Computer desk with no use. I have sent 100s of mails literally to get the batteries replaced but no luck. Believe me the service support is simply pathetic. They have taken down my name and address 23 times ( at Mahape Navi- mumbai service center), I challenge even if i call now they will take down my name, UPS model details, my address & promise to send a service personnel tomorrow. But nothing goes beyond that. To all buyers PLEASE DONT EVER buy these APC product unless you want to make your life miserable.

Dont buy APC products. They claim to be the worlds number 1 in the but their after sales service is pathetic.I purchased a APC home inverter 800 VA model with 2 years warranty on inverter and battery. However the inverter started ginvg trouble in first few months. Now they are not even responding to my numerous email and calls to their call center. I even sent them a fax at thier new delhi office but to no avail. inverter fan is making a lot of noise and they are not replacing it as they claim in their advt of 2years onsite swap replacement warranty. The battery they say is not in stock!. Stay clear of APC products.!
