Ballmer to Apple: Stop Trying

Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer would like Apple to separate the software and hardware part of the iPhone
Seems, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer has a word of advice or two for arch-rival, Apple Inc. Ballmer, who has been quite vocal with his views in the past has advised Apple to separate the hardware and sotware part of the iPhone and give in to a more open stand. Ballmer thinks, it is in the best interests of Apple that they do this because, although the iPhones sales numbers have been impressive, the market trends do not favor the "un-Microsoft-like" integration of both the OS and the hardware by a sole manufacturer.
Ballmer, speaking during an interview conducted at an event in California added that he expects Apple to do very poorly in both, the smartphone and the notebook sectors in the next five years owing to the same reason of restricting the OS to only one platform. Additionally, the fact that Microsoft has been in the past able to take control of the computer market by "divorcing" the hardware and the OS is testimony to the fact that this indeed is the way forward.
Steve Jobs though might just let this pass on and as for any changes in Apple's strategy, we do not expect that too any time in the near future.
