BSNL goes the GPRS way

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd. has extended some of the CellOne schemes and plans to expand its network to about 66 more towns and offer GPRS services. It has also launched a free additional phone facility for its Internet surfing customers.
Mr. Sanjay Kumar, Chief General Manager, BSNL said they have launched a host of other offers that includes bundling of handsets for as low as Rs. 150 a month, the continuation of its student scheme, which has 60,000 subscribers so far, and cheaper tariff structure for international calls.
BSNL has registered a subscriber base of 4,76,868 users, including 1,30,423 post-paid, and is breathing down the neck of Airtel, the largest cellular services provider in Andhra Pradesh. The company is confident that in AP, it will be able to surpass and become the number one cellular services provider. BSNL has teamed up with SBI and ICICI to offer handsets from six major manufacturers.
Internet access will become easy as they can acquire another landline that can be used exclusively for this purpose, he said. This will be available for a monthly rental of Rs. 399 and Rs. 499 depending on the area the customer is located.
The overall landline subscriber base for BSNL is estimated at about 32 lakh but this segment is actually witnessing a de-growth mainly due to many people opting for cellular services.
GPRS-based services will be launched by March 2004. While increasing the cell sites across the States, including in major cities, BSNL plans to add coverage in 66 more towns by the end of this year.

I have cellone prepaid power pack connection with one year lifetime period. All of sudden my mobile displaying as 'Emerge.Use Only' when I am trying to call any number call is not going out. BSNL doesn't really care about their customers... What they care about is only bills.. Their employees really have a 'government employee' mindset... They just dont want to work... They just want their salaries.. Their attitude sucks. Hope one day they'll change... This is my prayer.

I've a Nokia 5200. I called up the BSNL hotline no. and the call centre official gave me some manual settings -"BSNL-GPRS". Now I had got my portal provisioned through 53733 and hadn't really received a message in case of gprs or mms. however I have the little "G" symbol at the top of my screen. the settings i have been given refer to GPRS as data bearer( I can see only packet data and GSM) and when I connect by clicking 0 for 2 secs.....i get the message "Invalid web settings". I don't understand what to do and the call centre officials are too dumb to understand my problem and just keep repeating things which are totally unhelpful.What do I do. Can anyone please tell me the BSNL settings exclusively for Nokia 5200? I can see no options such as Proxy IP or anything either.

For any help regarding BSNL GPRS service just Ping me. The setting for BSNL GPRS service for each zone is differnet. (E,W,N,S) .... The primary things required are the valid access point.... valifd proxy server and valid port address. Next in case of few phones I gotta mention the type of line ...(ISDN/MODEM) also. Connecting the Phone to PC is dam easy and so is the process to surf the net. And cities where EDGE is availble you will just love this Internet service. This is the best wireless internet connectivity at least for the time being.

i can access internet on my mobile(samsung E250) by Airtel GPRS.how can i get the same in my computer? i have face a prob:error in p to p connection. when i am using dial up no:*99***# what is the dial up number for sgh e250 model? what is the process to setup modem? plz help me out.
